Any update on this? I commented out the code as suggested but now we have a functions error. Thank you!
I am also interested in knowing this.
Thank you for the link and response. It does clear up something I hadn’t realized WordPress did with templates. That being said you put anyone that makes customizations to what you classify as a theme, at risk because it is a child of another. I know why it was done, but I would say it isn’t a well thought out solution to having another theme. The link that you suggest solves one problem only to circle back to the same problem of having files written over. If I make changes to the function.php file to assign my own home page using that code described, it to will get written over in an update… if I am not mistaken? The best solution that I can see is you guys removing your front-page.php in the child so that we at least have the ability to use it to get around your updates. I don’t know how that affects current people using it but it gives those of us that don’t want to be stuck within the limitation of the theme access to do what we need without having it overwritten.
I guess the last question I have is do your updates for themes get pushed automatically? I would assume no, but I know that I had an issue that someone else posted in the forum with the theme and it resolved shortly after you responded to them that it was fixed.
Thanks for the reply. I am using the Settlement Theme, which is already a child theme and part of the reason I am having the issue. How do I handle it with that? As I mentioned, I don’t want to have issues with it overwriting when there are updates.
