Group Messages

The IgnitionDeck Commerce (IDC) group messaging feature is a great way to quickly communicate with some or all of your customers directly from your WordPress admin screen.

Some reasons you may wish to use this feature include:

  • to supplement or even replace the functionality of a 3rd party email newsletter service
  • to offer quick announcements regarding specific products or campaigns
  • to target calls to action or upgrade opportunities to specific parts of your userbase

Configuring group messages

IDC uses the information you’ve set in your CRM settings to send out your messages. While it is possible to use PHP mail on your server to send emails, we highly recommend the usage of a transactional email service like Mandrill. Transactional email services tend to offer better delivery rates and protection against spam complaints.

Sending group messages

You can access member messages through the Member Management screen, found beneath your IgnitionDeck Commerce menu. From here, you can select groups of members by which product they own (the default selection is to message all members). Click the “Send Message to Group” button and you’ll be presented with the following screen:


At this point, it’s simply a matter of entering your desired subject line and message body, and clicking Send Mail. The email will be distributed using the CRM settings you’ve configured in the main ID Commerce settings screen.

Additionally, the Message box has full support for HTML, allowing you to send beautiful layouts using 3rd party email design products or your own HTML code.
